As I found this topic in Lonely Planet I think I should find out what you can buy with your US$ 1 in Bangkok, Thailand. Anyways US$1 will be more value if you use in other province. (Outside Bangkok)
1. Rice with Thai Omelet dish.
2. 2 Pepsi cans (normal size) in 7/11
3. 2 Energy drink in 7/11
4. 2 pieces of Fresh fruit from shopping cart
5. 2 km for Taxi (Starting rate)
6. 2 cups of Hot Coffee in 7/11
7. 1 loaf of Bread
8. 2 Bottles of Drinking water 1.0 lite
9. 5 Thai pork BBQ with Sticky rice from shopping cart
10. Tuk Tuk from Grand Palace to Wat Pho
