Kanchanaburi is in the east of Bangkok, 250 away. There are many interesting places such as World War II bridge and tombs, Tiger temple and etc. I would like to recommend you stay at Sankhla Buri, it is close to Myanmar. In that place you can try many adventure such as bamboo rafting, elephant riding in jungle and diving to the old temple under water. But this place is quite far from Kanchanaburi city around 3 hours (120 km). Maybe you could stay at Jungle raft hotel in Kwai river and visit Mon village.
